Besides the Mishneh Torah of Maimonides, the other major codification of Jewish law is the Shulchan Aruch, written by Joseph Caro in the 16 th century. The Rambam (Hilchot Chametz Umatza 8:6) and Shulchan Aruch (O.C. 629:1) state that the Lechem Mishneh obligation applies on Yom Tov as well as Shabbat.
